Competition Overview

Now in its 10th iteration, the Seattle International Piano Competition has been singled out as one of the world’s most inclusive competitions. The SIPC continues to provide one of the most equitable opportunities for artistic recognition in the world. Participants of all ages and nationalities may apply, with over 15,000 USD in total prize money for the 2024 competition.

As a two-stage competition, participants are invited to submit video performances. From among these, six to eight distinguished artists from each category are selected to appear during the live final round event at Illsley Ball Nordstrom Recital Hall at Benaroya Hall in Seattle, Washington. This year’s final round event takes place during the weekend of September 21-22, 2024 before a live audience.

Since 2013, the Seattle International Piano Competition is one of the world’s only piano competitions conducted by blind jury process. Preliminary round recordings are screened anonymously via an exclusive audio-only feed by a professional listening committee. During the live final round, judges are seated behind a screen while the general audience is free to view the finalists’ performances.

Professional and collegiate artists, youth of all ages are invited to apply. There is no age cap for professional artists.
